Learning Integration Essay

This essay focuses on the essential elements of supporting student learning. I discuss the development of a plan that connects theory and practice for explicitly addressing culture, language, and identity in classroom policies, instruction, and curriculum. Using course readings, I grounded my work in theory to second language acquisition, bilingual education, and the structure of the English language. After reflecting upon my own experiences working with ESOL students, I learned strategies for effectively supporting students' native language while they are acquiring a new language like English.
